Mothers Don’t Do Enough

February 26, 2015

Since having Lela, I’ve looked at Meghaan in a very different way. She did something I still can’t fully comprehend, and everyday she continues to do it.

She’s raising our daughter. She’s giving everything of herself to our child so that Lela will be happy and healthy and has a chance to be amazing.

Someday, many years from now, Lela will walk out of this house and start her own life. And she would not be able to do that without the countless hours Meghaan spent feeding and soothing and changing and loving her.

And Lela will tell all the stories of how she was raised and what matters to her and what she remembers about being young.

But she won’t remember it all. All of the things Meghaan has sacrificed to give Lela everything.

There are millions of women doing what Meghaan is doing and I know that you sometimes wonder if what you’re doing is enough.

What you’re doing is not enough.

It is leaps and bounds beyond enough.

You are doing enough plus more.

You are doing it all.

Becoming a parent changes everything doesn’t it?

Your daughter is lovely and Meghaan must have loved these sweet words you shared here. What encouragement you’ve offered to her and all the moms out there.

Thank you for sharing (and thanks for the kind mention).

    Wishing you a lovely weekend.
